Mechanical Engineering concerns forces, motion, the principles of energy, materials and mechanics to design and manufacture machines, mechanisms and engines as well as the creation of processes and systems that drive technology and industry. Mechanical Engineers are good at designing things, especially complex items like racing cars and yachts, robots, sawmills, airplanes etc.Mechanics, energy and heat, mathematics, engineering sciences, design and manufacturing form the foundation of mechanical engineering. Mechanical Engineering also involves the efficient use of energy in processes such as a heating system for a hospital or a refrigeration plant for food exports.
Industrial and Production Engineering is an engineering fraternity that is greatly valued internationally. It has been contributing enormously to the improvement of productivity and operations as well as operating conditions of numerous organizations all over the world. Education in IPE incorporates not only basic engineering and technical subjects, but also other relevant fields of study such as humanities, accounting, presentation skills, creativity, team work and business and management skills.
Ceramic engineering is the science and technology of creating objects from inorganic, non-metallic materials.
Mechatronics Engineering is an approach aiming at the synergistic integration of precise mechanics, electronics, control theory, and computer science within product design and manufacturing, in order to improve and optimize its functionality. Mechatronic systems are accurately designed using modeling and simulations, prototyping and hence properly tested by deploying. It relates to the design of systems, devices and products intended to achieving an optimal balance between basic mechanical structure and its overall control.
Materials Science & Engineering is in Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
The Department of Chemical Engineering began its journey under the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at RUET in 2024. It originally started as the Department of Chemical and Food Process Engineering at RUET in 2015. Currently, it offers a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, with an intake capacity of 30 students per year. The courses are developed according to modern concepts in Chemical Engineering education, with a strong emphasis on meeting the industrial requirements of the country. The goal of this department is to prepare its graduates for careers in chemical industries, pharmaceuticals, design and construction firms, pulp and paper, petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, polymers production companies, biotechnology, and environmental health and safety industries.
